Delonte West Video: Is West's New Rap Video the Worst in NBA History?
There's a Delonte West video making its way across the sports world today (as much as we wish it wasn't), after the free agent shooting guard delivered a five-minute preview of his new rap album.
Delonte fashions himself a rapper and spits the verse in typical fashion on Lockout:The Album.
From the instant that the video starts, it's clear we're watching the start of something truly special here.
From the "candid" shots of Delonte palling around with friends at or around his estate (how does Delonte West have an estate? Seriously, I'm asking), on a local court or getting dressed to have his picture taken, it's clear that Delonte West is giving us a performance for the ages on Lockout: The Album.
Seriously, did he pay money for this track? From the incoherent talking in his car (followed by the strange intro to the song), to the strange track choice for the second song played while he's putting on a suit, this is all kinds of ridiculous.
As helpful as it was for Delonte to explain how we know when something's "about to go off," it doesn't really seem terribly relevant to the current labor situation.
Why does Delonte feel the need to share his "gift" with us? What does it have to do with the lockout exactly?
I mean, I realize that because West has made a lot of money averaging 9.7 points and 3.2 assists in his NBA career, but since when does that mean he can rap?
Why can't he get back to business as usual during the lockout, like promoting family values with teammates' mothers? Instead, he's giving us this, a potential violation of the Geneva conventions for committing crimes against humanity.
Oh well, at least it's not Ron "Tru Warier" Artest laying down verse here. As bad as West's might be, he can't touch RonRon in the ridiculous music department, despite his best efforts to do just that.
