Antonio Tarver Stops Danny Green in 9, Wins the IBO Cruiserweight Title
Four-time world champion Antonio Tarver (28-6, 19 KO) returns to the ring to take on the IBO Cruiserweight Champion Danny Green (31-3, 27 KO). The bout will take place in Sydney, Australia at the Entertainment Centre.
Green went 3-0 in 2010 with victories over Manny Siaca, Paul Briggs and BJ Flores. He also had a 2009 knockout victory versus Roy Jones Jr.
Tarver made his name coming out of the 1995 Olympics, taking a bronze medal in the process. He began his professional career in 1997 and had his career-defining moment in 2004 when he knocked out Roy Jones Jr. to become the light heavyweight champion.
With a combined age of 80 between the two fighters, both know they don't have much time left in the sport. This is their chance for one of them to prove the critics wrong and get a big win on their record.

Antonio Tarver (29-6, 20 KO) defeated Danny Green (31-4, 27 KO) to win the IBO Cruiserweight title at the Entertainment Centre in Sydney, Australia.
After obtaining an early lead on the scorecards with a knockdown in Round 2, Tarver continued to control the pace of the fight and landed some good left hands that snapped Green's head back throughout the bout. Green had moments of his own and even rocked Tarver in Round 7.
Green got a little reckless in Round 9 before Tarver opened up and landed a barrage of power shots near the end of the round. Green walked to the wrong corner and was on wobbly legs, forcing his cornermen to stop the bout.
"I want to just say thank you to Syndey, Australia," said Tarver in his post-fight interview. "They treat us with dignity and respect."
"He hurt me twice, but I couldn't let him know it. I want to thank him for the opportunity."
"May God bless his soul, my late colleague, Nick Charles."
After competing in the heavyweight division during his last bout, Tarver decided to contest his skills at cruiserweight. It will be interesting to see where he goes from here at the age of 42.
"He fought a good fight," said Green, 38, in his post-fight interview. "I just couldn't do anything right, tonight."

Round 7- Green going to the body early. Tarver throws a hard left hand and gets hit with a body shot in return. Tarver gets wobbled for a second by a left hand. Referee warns Tarver for holding. Tarver is still hurt from previous shots. Green keeps going to the body. Very good round for Green. 10-9 Green

Round 8- Green goes to the body with a left and right. Tarver snapping the jab. Right hand lands by Green. Left hand by Tarver. Right hand lands for Green. Tarver returns with a left hand. Tarver lunges with a left hand that lands. Green connects with a left hand. Close round. 10-9 Green
Round 9- Tarver picking his shots. Green in the middle of the ring and throwing his jab. Right hand to the body by Green. Green doing good work on Tarver's body. Right hand scores for Green. Boxers exchange. Tarver gets Green on the ropes and unloads a nonstop barrage of punches. Green comes back with a right hand. Tarver rocks Green at the end of the round. Green goes to the wrong corner and Tarver throws him in the other direction. Green's trainer shaking his head as he brings him back to the corner. The fight is over! Tarver wins by TKO!

Round 5- Tarver in the center of the ring. Green circling away and jabbing. Not much action this round. Green lunging forward with his punches. Boxers clinch at the halfway point. Tarver throws consecutive jabs and gets hit with a body shot. Not much landed this round. 10-10
Round 6- Both boxers miss with their punches as they come together. Uppercut lands for Tarver. Tarver throws a series of jabs. Green getting aggressive off the ropes.
