NHL Free Agency 2011: Tampa Bay Lightning Agree to Terms with Steve Stamkos

A new, five-year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning has been agreed to by Steven Stamkos

The 21-year old posted 119 goals, 113 assists, and 232 points in 243 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was drafted first overall in 2008 by the Lighting. Stamkos was one of the co-winners of the Rocket Richard Trophy in 2010, given to the league's top-scorer, with 51 goals.

While there has been no official confirmation from the Lightning over the amount of money Stamkos would earn, it is reportedly $4 million the first year ($4 million bonus), $5 million the second ($3 million bonus), $8 million each for the third and fourth year, and $5.5 million the last. The average cap hit would be $7.5 million a season, with a total worth of $35 million.
