This is a little bit late about the news, but the Mountain West and Missouri Valley Conference have teamed up to form a basketball challenge.   Specific details regarding the Challenge will be released at a later date.

Officials from both leagues are working towards a four-year commitment that could begin as early as November, 2009.  Both of these leagues have consistently been in the top 10 of the RPI for their respective leagues.

In my opinion this could benefit the MWC more just because the Mountain West does not participate in the Bracket Buster, because the league thinks they are above those games.

Some teams are above, but the Missouri Valley does send teams to the bracket buster for more high profile non-conference games.  There are 19 teams between the two leagues and all teams will face off agaisnt each other in this potential challenge.

Enjoy this hoops nugget, and tip off begins in about two weeks.
