Braves Trade Rumors: Astros Price Tag Has Braves Looking to White Sox for Bat
The Houston Astros would love to send off Hunter Pence in a trade. They just want everything in your pockets, and the pockets themselves.
The San Francisco Giants received the major prize during this trade deadline. The defending World Champs welcome Carlos Beltran to AT&T Park.
That trade has seen dominoes fall all over major league baseball. The biggest news is that Hunter Pence is the greatest and grandest prize on baseball.
The only problem is that Houston wants Hall of Fame type compensation. That has left some teams, like the Braves, to look elsewhere. There is no sense in trading the farm when you can get like talent elsewhere.
Baseball guru, Ken Rosenthal tweeted this gem, “Source: Braves "hot" for Quentin - and #WhiteSox love ATL's young arms. One holdup... MORE #tradedeadline #MLB.”
The Braves have a few young studs they can throw the White Sox way. In return, the Braves get the right-handed bat they have been clamoring for. This would bolster a lineup that has needed some energy at time this year.
With a stellar rotation and pop in the lineup, the White Sox would pull neck and neck with the Giants in the coup they pulled.
And really, the Astros are not going to give up pence anyway. The turned down an offer from the Phillies that would have netted them, “their best pitching prospect, Jarred Cosart, and their best hitting prospect, Jonathan Singleton, along with another pitching prospect.”
When the man in question is Hunter Pence, you take that deal. A smart organization like the Braves will pull back from the table and go with the smart deal. And that is how you stay a consistent force in this league. While other teams are content to give away the store, Atlanta has been measured, and it will make all the difference.
