Nausea at the Nassau Coliseum: Islanders Vs Blue Jackets Recap 11/3/08

Talk about Deja Vu.

For the second straight game the New York Islanders entered the third period with a three goal lead, thanks to goals by Captain Bill Guerin, Richard Park, and Chris Campoli, this time against the mediocre Columbus Blue Jackets.

You think they would have learned their lesson on Saturday when they let a victory against the talented Montreal Canadiens slip from their grasp, but again they played passive hockey in the third, allowing the Blue Jackets to tie the game with three straight goals, sending the game into Overtime and giving Columbus a point they should not have had.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME! HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN AGAIN! IF WE CAN’T SECURE A THREE GOAL LEAD AGAINST THE BLUE JACKETS WE SHOULD JUST DROP OUT OF THE NHL NOW TO SAVE US THE EMBARRASSMENT!

Off we went into OT, with all Islanders fans sitting on the edge of their seats. Columbus had a couple of chances to score but Joey MacDonald made a couple of good saves to keep the game alive. And with less than two minutes left in overtime, Chris Campoli scored his second goal of the game to win it for the Isles who are finally able to breathe a sigh of relief after dropping their last six games.

The Islanders should start giving out antacid as a promotion as fans enter the building, because everyone in the arena was thinking “here we go again” after the Blue Jackets began to dominate in the 3rd..

Make sure to keep your Tums near your couch tomorrow as the Islanders face the Rangers in the garden on election night.

Hopefully Scott Gordon can figure out a way to make his team play THREE full periods, not two, and the Islanders can pull out a victory in the city.
