Despite the best efforts by the Pittsburgh Steelers beat writers to end the speculation about Tiki Barber, multiple rumors still had running back Tiki Barber going to the black and gold.

After the franchises latest move, the rumor is all but squashed.

Mewelde Moore is heading back to the Steelers and will likely resume his role as a third down back. He has played in the Steel City for the past three seasons and has put up solid, if not unspectacular numbers. Moore had 33 carries for 99 yards a season ago and 26 catches for 205 yards.
Now the Steelers have thier one-two punch back from last seasons Super Bowl run.

So why would they be intrested in Barber, a player that hasn't played in four years? Profootballtalk's Mike Florio says it's not happening:

Of course, Barber has said he wants to come back as something more than a third-down option, which is Moore’s specialty.  Still, having Rashard Mendenhall and Mewelde Moore on the roster makes it less likely that the Steelers would have a spot for Tiki.

Six days into the free-agency period, there hasn’t been a single peep about Barber.  With so many other veteran running backs available and every camp now open, it could be that, barring a rash of running back injuries, the phone won’t be ringing.

Barber is a springboard for controversy and will bring lots of attention to wherever he ends up. It's just another distraction that teams don't want to deal with.

Now that you can cross Pittsburgh off the list...whose left?

He certainly won't be going back to the New York Giants. There haven't been any sort of rumors involving Barber of late and it looks like he is going to keep waiting.

Barber will have to keep his cell phone on as injuries in Training Camp begin to sprout up around the league.

Teams like the Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos don't have a ton of depth at the position and are an injury away from emergency status.

That's Barber's value in the 2011 NFL landscape...an emergency plan.
