WWE Video: Watch CM Punk Beat John Cena and Run with the WWE Championship

For CM Punk, last night was a fitting reward for a man who turned the industry on its ear in less than a month.

One of the best angles in the company's history culminated with Punk defeating John Cena in the center of the ring after hitting the Go to Sleep.

Punk didn't just win the WWE championship, he took it and literally ran off into the sunset with the most prized possession in the industry.

It was an amazing match, living up to the hype in every sense of the word and giving fans a reason to believe in the future of the WWE.

To the relief of fans around the world, Vince McMahon and the creative team didn't botch the finish like many suspected they would. In fact, the company even turned our expectations against us in the waning moments of the pay-per-view.

After the match, Vinny Mac called Alberto Del Rio to the ring to cash in his newly won Money in the Bank briefcase. Del Rio eagerly charged the ring, only to catch a fist from Punk, knocking him out and giving the champion an escape route.

Once Punk hopped the barricade and ran into the crowd, Chicago erupted with elation as their hometown boy exited the arena with the strap.

Now, in the afterglow of a brilliant pay-per-view, the Internet is buzzing with expectations for Monday Night Raw, and the onus is on the creative team to keep the hits rolling.

Punk is champion, everything is turned upside down in the wake of Money in the Bank and the fans need answers.

My instincts tell me that the creative team will take the strap off of Punk on tonight's show, but I hope it doesn't come to that.

If that were to happen, it would be worse than when Christian won the title only to have it taken from him on the next taping of SmackDown.

Fans have been universally praising the main event, and if WWE were to do that to the fans after such an amazing show, it would be a major slap in the face.

Punk, Cena and the fans deserve better than that, and hopefully we'll get it once Raw goes on the air tonight.

But for now, let's enjoy last night by watching this video until the Internet breaks down.
