NFL Free Agent Rumors: Philadelphia Eagles Gearing Up for Run at Nnamdi Asomugha

With an offseason of lockout behind us, and just a few weeks of madness before the start of the season, the Philadelphia Eagles are positioning themselves for some big moves.
The one thing that all clubs were saying was most important was the re-signing process of their own unrestricted free agents. While that’s what most team said, the Eagles decided to go against the grain.
Not only did Philadelphia not sign all of their unrestricted free agents, they made the decision to avoid signing all of the players that were UFAs.
NBC Pro Football talk is reporting:
The Eagles won’t re-sign any of their free agents. Jonathan Tamari of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the team won’t pursue linebacker Stewart Bradley. Or safety Quintin Mikell. Or punter Sav Rocca. Or running back Jerome Harrison. Others that will get ignored: cornerback Dimitri Patterson, center Nick Cole and guard Max Jean-Gilles. Bradley and Harrison are probably the biggest surprises on that list.
With the new salary cap in place, if a team wants to go onto the free agency market and make huge moves, they need to clear out plenty of financial space.
Something the Eagles just did.
The team now has a plethora of money left over for a big splash, and there would be no bigger splash than the top cornerback in the NFL Nnamdi Asomugha.
Asomugha would come into the team and become the best cornerback in the NFC, and the arrival would also signal the less pressure on fellow corner Asante Samuel.
Samuel has been beat several times in the past, but with Nnamdi to back him up and take the No. 1 receiver, Samuel can be the ball hawk he used to be.
