WWE: Overshadowing the Core Pay-Per-Views Is Just Bad Business

Giulio RomanoJul 15, 2011

It's Friday, Bleachers!

Time for some Real Talk!

As we all know, the second Money In The Bank event occurs this Sunday from Chicago and to me it looks like it is going to be a total success, perhaps the best one of the year so far.

That is great news!

The last few have been less than spectacular. Even WrestleMania XXVII had some people claiming it was lackluster.

My "beef" right now is the fact we have to get the best stories because of two things: a gimmick and the imminent departure of one of the top superstars in the company.

Why does this happen? Why does the MITB ladder match have its own event?

The only thing that comes to mind now is: how the hell are they going to make SummerSlam, the event of the summer, bigger?

On Sunday, we are going to watch something amazing, I can feel it but it could of happened in August all the same.

I would have eliminated the ridiculous last three events and just added a Saturday Night's Main Event instead.

Let's face it, Money In The Bank's card and build-up FAR EXCEEDS WrestleMania XXVII in so many ways.

Sure my favorites (The Miz and Cody Rhodes) won their matches but c'mon! It was supposed to be the best show of the year.

We got Trish Stratus and The Rock...SUPERB!

What else?................Sn00ki!

It is just sad the so-called "creative" team have to milk CM Punk's discontent with WWE to deliver to us a great pay-per-view that's not even part of the really "big" ones.

I would have easily fitted the MITB matches at SummerSlam. That alone would have made up for the fiasco that was the 2010 version of the summer extravaganza.

There are too many shows!!

I don't want SummerSlam to suck BECAUSE IT'S SUMMERSLAM!

It should be THE summer show, not Money In The Bank?!

Would THAT have been the right place to have The Rock vs. John Cena?

I mean, if The Undertaker really plans on stopping at 20-0 then it would be Cena's last chance to challenge the streak.

There is no other reason my gut tells me the epic Rock/Cena confrontation will happen sooner.

Yes, we have tackled this issue before as to how many shows there should be but the proof is right there now.

They had planned on eliminating the Survivor Series event altogether. You'd replace it with what? Another stupid gimmick a la "Breaking Point?" Please!

In its defense, S.Series served to start building up some great potential stories and feuds that would lead to Royal Rumble and sometimes, even to WrestleMania.

I personally loved the four on four or five on five matches. You never knew who'd be paired with whom.

Stuff like this really makes me miss the good old days.

The only thing left to say is, I can't wait to see this show on Sunday.

It will be awesome!

Check out who's going to win here and there.

You can take those to the bank.

And that's Real Talk!
