Memphis, Djokovic Headline Saturday's Action

Dylan LevinsonCorrespondent IJanuary 26, 2008

The day is over. Time for a review!

The Memphis Tigers have won 19 straight to give them a 19-0 record. That's right, Memphis. When's the last time Memphis succeeded in sports? Only Memphis would know.

Novak Djokovic, the kid who upset Federer, won his first grand slam title. Now broadcasters will have to pronouce his name right.

The Oakland Raiders are pressuring Lane Kiffin to resign. At least Al Davis isn't firing Kiffin in cold blood. I guess Al Davis isn't evil after all (I have heard Kiffin is a very nice guy.)

Plaxico Burress states that the Giants' receivers are as good as the Patriots' recievers.  When's the last time Amani Toomer and an injured Burress were better than Randy Moss and Wes Welker, both coming off career seasons. Sorry Plax, but we don't see eye to eye on that one.

Good news for Yankees fans. Hank Steinbrenner is not all talk. He actually went through with a deal. They signed Robinson Cano to a new deal. There is more good news.  Steinbrenner's GM is smart. He wants to keep young talent instead of giving it away for Johan Santana. Yankees fans should be happy to hear their organization has at least one smart man.

Those are the headlines from Jan. 26!  Hopefully the 27th will bring more goodies.
