Finlay, known as the Belfast Brawler and father of everyone’s favorite superstar Hornswoggle will be making his debut for the Evolve promotion on July 26th in New York City.
Finlay was fired earlier this year after being scapegoated for a promo that The Miz gave where he interrupted the national anthem, which angered representatives from the National Guard who were in attendance.
This, of course, is not unfair at all to the WWE who consistently allow top draws such as John Cena and CM Punk to use homophobic slurs with no consequences. But Finlay had to go…
The seasoned veteran will be facing Sami Callihan in what should be a very promising match.
This is a great signing for the Evolve promotion. Finlay may be 53 years old, but his hard-hitting wrestling style hasn’t lost a beat and he is perfect for an organization that focuses mainly on wrestling and not on leprechauns.
Finlay, however, has not been bitter about his termination. Finlay was quoted as saying, “With responsibility comes accountability. It was a simple mistake. I don’t have any hard feelings.”
Many could’ve taken the opportunity to point out how ludicrous his termination was, but Finlay took it with class.
I live around the New York area and I am excited for the possibility of seeing one of wrestling's true underrated legends in person. This event should not be missed by the independent wrestling community.
