Alexis Sanchez, Stewart Downing and Giuseppe Rossi Could All Be Moved This Week
With the transfer window in full swing, some notable deals have already been completed in the market. It would be fair to say that Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus have been most active this window, involving themselves in countless rumours, some of which have eventuated.
Last week we saw the likes of Gael Clichy, Charlie Adam and David de Gea move clubs.
The question is, who will be moved this week, and to where?
Alexis Sanchez to Barcelona
It is no secret that Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola admires Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean attracted much attention after his stellar performance at the 2010 World Cup.
In the 2010-11 Serie A season, Sanchez was instrumental in guiding Udinese to the fourth spot and a possible Champions League berth. During the 2010-11 season, he scored 12 goals in 31 appearances for the club.
The last two weeks have seen United drop off the Sanchez bandwagon, leaving Barcelona free to bid whenever they choose. Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo said he would allow his player to make his own choice, but would not accept a bid of less than €40 million out of respect for his player.
Sanchez is currently signed with Udinese until 2014. If Barcelona choose to proceed with the deal, a Fabregas transfer may prove to be financially unreasonable.
Liverpool have been more than active in the transfer market this window, already signing Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam and getting Alberto Aquilani back from a Juventus loan. Now they turn their sights to Aston Villa winger Stewart Downing, and they have already agreed to terms with the England international.
Now it is down to Liverpool and Villa determining the right transfer fee. Villa have already rejected a €17 million bid, but Liverpool are set to raise the bar to an offer in the region of €23 million. This could prove to be the offer that turns the table.
There is no doubt that Downing would be an excellent addition to Liverpool, and combined with Steven Gerrard, Raul Meireles and Charlie Adam, Liverpool could have one of the most formidable midfields in England.
Giuseppe Rossi to Juventus
A deal here may as well be rendered done, as Juventus have already agreed to personal terms with Rossi and Villarreal President Fernando Roig invited an Italian club to bid for the player. With Sergio Aguero falling out of range, Juventus have set all their sights on Rossi.
The Bianconeri are believed to be willing to offer €30 million for the centre forward. Rossi would have no problem settling in Turin, having the advantage of already knowing both the Italian language and many of the players at Juventus.
The Italian international was in top form this campaign, averaging half a goal a game and ending up with 18 goals in the league and 32 in all competitions, a tally that places him amongst the best strikers in all of Europe.
Juventus have made it no secret that they are willing to spend big, and this move for Rossi may just complete a very busy transfer season for the Old Lady as they attempt to climb back up to former glory.
These are just a few moves that may be completed in the next week. Of these three players, two have already agreed to terms with their supposed "new club." As for whether or not the moves are the right ones for their careers, only time will tell!
