As the offseason gets into gear, trade rumors have a way of popping up about a multitude of players. Seeing as how some of these rumors come true only days after they're leaked, it can have us wondering if we need to run for the straight jacket or size a player up for our favorite team's jersey. With the multitude of rumors out there, its hard to tell what is true and what is false, but some rumors have us scratching our heads on what is going to happen next.

So without further ado, let's take a look at some of the rumors that are floating around with no confirmation (and even some denials) as to whether they'll happen.

Sergei Bobrovsky

Sergei Bobrovsky seemed to brush off the majority of pressure that can hit a goalie during the season, especially during a rookie year. He went 28-13-8 in 54 games with a .915 SP and 2.59 GAA last season, mostly as a backup (although he didn't have the best playoffs).

However, there are rumors (via Philly.com) floating around that Bobrovsky was shopped around in May and again after Ilya Bryzgalov was signed.

The rumor has been denied by Paul Holmgren, who has called Bobrovsky the Flyers' "goalie of the future" but with a nine-year deal for Bryzgalov, this rumor could prove to be based in fact over the next few years.

Mike Green

The Capitals have been stuck in the rumor mill this offseason, mostly with Alexander Semin. But another rumor floating around the Capitals' is a possible trade (via about.com) of Mike Green.

The Capitals are having issues with cap space, and clearing Mike Green's $5.25 million from the roster would help that situation. With the Semin and Green rumors both floating around this offseason, there is no telling what will happen to the Capitals' roster in the coming months.

Jaroslav Spacek

While the big rumor coming out of the Canadiens' camp is that Scott Gomez is being shopped around, it's also believed the Habs are shopping around Jaroslav Spacek, who has a year remaining on his contract and is a $3.8 million cap hit.

Due to the shushed nature of this rumor and the small cap hit that Spacek takes from the Habs, I really don't see him leaving before his contract is up.

Ales Hemsky

Rumors about some players seem to pop up yearly (or even monthly in some cases) and once again Ales Hemsky is in the spotlight. According to the rumors (via gather.com), the Columbus Blue Jackets have shown interest in Hemsky this year.

I'll admit that I did put him in my slideshow as one of the forwards that may be traded this summer but the more I look, the more I think this trade is unlikely.

However, even if he stays on the team next season, Hemsky's future with the Oilers isn't secure next year when his contract expires.

Steven Stamkos

Many variations of this rumor have been denied again and again yet it keeps popping up, Steven Stamkos is not being traded and that comes straight from the GM's mouth (both stories via St. Petersburg Press).

This is probably the No. 1 rumor that will not die and no doubt fits in the straight jacket category. If there's a rumor that has people scratching their heads raw, it has to be those surrounding Steven Stamkos.

Unfortunately, until the Lightning re-sign him, we have no potential relief from the biggest head-shaking rumor this year, so expect to see Steven Stamkos' name all over the place in different scenarios for a while.
