Daniele De Rossi Could Be in Line to Replace Michael Essien
Chelsea were rocked this week by the news that midfield enforcer Michael Essien could be out a minimum of six months due to a major knee injury.
The injury to Essien has prompted the possible signing of AS Roma's Deniele De Rossi. Despite having been offered a new contract with Roma he still could possibly make a switch to England.
With only one year left on his current contract the Blues believe they could prize away the 27 year old for around £15 million.
De Rossi is adamant he is not looking to sign a new deal as he looks to leave Rome, after his father-in-law was murdered in 2008 and he became victim of a blackmail campaign earlier this year it seems it is time for a change.
He has been interested in a move to the Premier League for quite sometime and this could be his opportunity. Chelsea would possibly be facing competition with Manchester City for his services.
