WWE Creative has reportedly brought up the possibility of creating a faction between the three at some point following CM Punk's supposed departure.
This plan may actually have been given the green light to go. A couple of weeks ago, on one episode of RAW, Ryder interrupted a celebration between the duo and let out his Slammy-winning catchphrase, "Woo woo woo, you know it!" in a semi-secretive manner. Then, during the recap on WWE.com, they described it as a "cryptic message"—which means that they more than likely have some sort of story coming up the pipeline.
Whether or not this would be a good idea remains to be seen. Otunga has been able to pull off a gimmicky, A-lister persona during his tenure in NXT, although McGillicutty has never really had any character going for him at all.
However, it would certainly be interesting to see how the transformation is undertaken, what route they will actually go through with and the hilarity that will definitely ensue if the duo attempt to mimic the gimmick (rhyme not intended) that Ryder has established.
Who can imagine McGillicutty wearing fake tans, spiking his hair and chatting up the ladies? Or how about Otunga busting out a cheesy catchphrase or a goofy pun?
Despite what I previously mentioned, Otunga is lost without cause.
Since Barrett's departure from the group, the weasel character he previously portrayed disappeared and he became another face in the black and yellow army. His charisma is being put to waste and taking the role of one of Ryder's broskis could revitalise him.
Also, if the two still fail to work this gimmick, they are more than likely playing as the Long Island Iced Z's second-hand men anyway—so the talking will more than likely be left to the man himself.
