Kendrick Perkins Arrest: Scene Latest Reminder Thunder Should've Kept Jeff Green
Would the Oklahoma City Thunder be the reining NBA champions if they didn’t trade Jeff Green? They gave up a player that made them one of, if not the fastest team in the league to get bigger inside. There is no question: the trade was a mistake and the Thunder will be reminded of their error every single day until they win a title.
The team's latest reminder comes from KFDM in Dallas who reported that Kendrick Perkins was arrested and taken from his home on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct, but no other details are known. So now the player that failed to help them reach their ultimate goal is ruining their near flawless reputation of staying out of trouble. If Perkins can’t improve them talent wise and can’t be a mature leader, what is he good for?
Oklahoma City was better off with Serge Ibaka and Nick Collins on the court throughout the playoffs. Green was a player that averaged 15.2 points and 5.6 rebounds before he was dealt. The Thunder traded that production for someone that averaged 4.2 points and 5.0 rebounds during the Western Finals.
Perkins was supposed to shore up the Thunder on the defensive end, but he ended up being a liability. It may seem crazy, but Oklahoma City and the Boston Celtics should trade back. The deal would be a disaster in the media, but the trade cost each team a shot at the title.
The Celtics have no center and would welcome Perkins back with open arms. Being better off with Ibaka and Collins, still having Nazr Mohammad and with Cole Aldrich developing, the Thunder have no need for Perkins. They would add a talented scorer on the wing for basically nothing.
A re-swap makes too much sense, but it won’t happen because of pride. That leaves Thunder fans wondering what could’ve been, but at least their window for a title is still open, unlike Boston.
