2011 NFL Free Agency: 7 Free Agents Nobody Wants

Bryn SwartzJun 7, 2018

Heading into the free agency period--if it actually happens--NFL teams are just drooling over players like Oakland Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, Tennessee Titans defensive end Jason Babin, and New York Giants wide receiver Steve Smith.

Then there are the players who nobody wants. These are the players who should pack up and head for the Arena Football League because their career in the National Football League is coming to a close.

The following seven slides highlight those players.

Patrick Cobbs, Running Back, Miami Dolphins

1 of 7

I wouldn't take a chance on Patrick Cobbs. He carried just six times in 2009 and four times in 2010. He did return some kicks over the past couple of seasons but he's 27 years old and ineffective at his primary position.

He could land a job as a backup or third string running back somewhere but I wouldn't expect to see him signed.

Kasey Studdard, Guard, Houston Texans

2 of 7

Studdard was a sixth round draft pick who played in just four games during the 2010 season.

He has made just 14 starts in his career, all in the 2009 season. He doesn't have much of a future in the National Football League, if any.

Tom Santi, Tight End, Indianapolis Colts

3 of 7

If Santi does happen to get signed, it certainly won't be by the Colts, who have Dallas Clark, Jacob Tamme, and Brody Eldridge on their playing roster.

The 25-year old tight end didn't catch a pass or play in a game last season. He has just 18 receptions in his NFL career.

Todd Bouman, Quarterback, Jacksonville Jaguars

4 of 7

Bouman, 38, threw two touchdowns and two interceptions with Jacksonville last season, his first action in the NFL since the 2007 season.

He has made seven career starts, six of which he has lost, and his career touchdown to interception ratio of 13 to 13 is nothing remotely impressive.

Charlie Frye, Quarterback, Oakland Raiders

5 of 7

You probably weren't even aware that Frye was still in the NFL. He hasn't taken a snap in two seasons and he will be 30 by the time the season begins.

He has a career touchdown to interception ratio of 17 to 29, with a 69.8 passer rating. A team would be idiotic to sign him for 2011.

Nick Cole, Center, Philadelphia Eagles

6 of 7

Cole earned a roster spot with the 2006 Eagles and has been one of the worst offensive linemen in the NFL over the past five seasons.

He has been especially brutal filling in for injured Jamaal Jackson (at the end of the 2009 season) and at right guard (for the 2010 Eagles).

Patrick Ramsey, Quarterback, Minnesota Vikings

7 of 7

Ramsey has played for six teams since the start of the 2009 season: Titans, Lions, Saints, Jaguars, Dolphins, and Vikings.

Oh, and he hasn't thrown a single pass.

It's time for the 32-year-old to retire because I don't know why any team would sign him for 2011.
