The Bombers were able to pull out a victory in a game that meant nothing to the Bombers or Ti-Cats in terms of the season. Despite nothing being on the line the Bombers were out to prove they were ready for the playoffs and razor sharp moving forward and they proved exactly that. It is safe to say that Doug Berry accomplished everything he wanted out of this game, first Glenn was sharp in limited action going 11-14 for 166 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions in very limited action before new backup BrianRandall came in relief. Fred Reid once again proved to be a very dependable back rushing 14 times for 160 yards which bodes well for the playoffs. Alexis Serna who had only connected on 63.8 percent of his field goals coming into this game went 4 for 4 on field goals from 9, 27, 43 (into the wind), and 51 respectively (his longest all year). The biggest thing perhaps was that they suffered no major injuries in this one which is a good sign given Winnipeg history of injuries in the playoffs.
Romby Bryant was once again the go to guy at receiver as he caught 4 passes for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jevon Johnson off an interception and Casey McGahee got the other touchdowns en route to an impressive 44-30 victory over the Tabbies. Also of note Derrick Armstrong caught two passes for 20 yards giving him 1,010 yards on the season.
The Bombers will now prepare for the Eskimos in the East semi-final next Saturday and appear to be jacked up and full of confidence. Having gone 6-2 since that devastating loss against the Riders at the Banjo Bowl, the Bombers appear to be peaking at the exact right time and firing on all cylinders. Since the Roberts trade to BC the Bombers have shown character and strength and power that was non existent at the start of the year. Watch out Edmonton this Winnipeg team is ready for war and is ready to win at any cost.
