West Brom were a sinking ship last season and looked destined for the drop, until the appointment of Liverpool outcast Roy Hodgson. The season before, the English manager had led Fulham to the UEFA Europa League final before being defeated by Atletico Madrid.
His arrival at the Hawthorns after his dismissal from Liverpool gave him the chance to turn his fortunes around and he did just that inspiring the Baggies to eventually an 11th-place finish that no one would have predicted.
In the coming season Hodgson will hope to keep pace, shooting for a mid-table finish once again as he does not seem to have a large transfer purse and seems rather quiet in the market this summer despite a few mumblings here and there.
Whatever the case, he has one of the most exciting front men in the English Premier League in Peter Odemwingie and has the chance to once again prove he is a quality manager in England's top flight.

Back in 2008 Zoltan Gera was finishing a stint at West Bromwich of 155 games and 25 goals. Roy Hodgon prized the Hungarian away to join him at Fulham where he then went on to make 117 appearances and another 17 goals to his career.
Now it seems Roy Hodgson wants to bring him back to the Hawthorns for a reunion with his old club, and his old manager as they now appear to be in the same place.
The confidence of Hodgson in Gera could be more than enough to convince the Hungarian to return to Albion where he made his name for himself in England.
News was officially released that he had passed a medical pending some recovery time for a recent operation to correct an ankle problem from last season.
Contract negotiations are said to have started to take place today as his move looks more and more promising.

Romanian International Gabriel Tamas continues to push for a move to Roman club Lazio citing the chance to play alongside his fellow National team partner Stephan Radu as one of the reasons for the wanted move.
Lazio also offer a better chance for silverware and will also be competing for a European trophy in the UEFA Europa League after a fifth place finish in Serie A.
It now, however, appears that in the last several days since the initial possibility of the move surfaced, the Italian club could flip flop on the possible move, and leave Tamas to his own devices under Roy Hodgson.

Last week Scott Carson officially left the Hawthorns to join Turkish club Bursaspor on an undisclosed fee. This move highlights the need for West Brom to sign a new shot stopper and the failure to even have a chance at Shay Given could hurt them in the long run.
It will more than likely possibly come down to a need to sign a keeper on loan until at least January if Roy Hodgson and West Brom can not rectify the situation.
Although Carson lost his job temporarily to Boaz Myhill, it is still uncertain if the United States born Welshman is the permanent replacement.

Shay Given emerged as a possible target for West Brom in the middle of June according to the Daily Mail. It appears they were in the thick of a battle for the keeper with Aston Villa until earlier this week according to People.co.uk.
After weeks of speculation back and forth, the Irish keeper has rejected a move to the Hawthorns to man the goal. Manchester City were willing to release the player and allow him to leave, but he has refused, and City have hence rejected any chance of them assisting in the player's salary should he go to Albion on loan.
With Given no apparently no longer an option, the Birmingham Mail has tipped the Baggies to now pursue the likes of Tomasz Kuszczak, Steve Harper, or Robert Green.
