MMA Knockout of the Day: Rad Martinez Takes Care of Business vs. David Allred
Since I saw the piece about Rad Martinez’s life on “Outside the Lines”, I’ve been wanting to go and find one of his fights to post here. If you haven’t seen the piece, I’d advise you to click here.
While the video might not be the best of quality, it still serves its purpose of today’s “MMA Knockout of the Day”.
The bout begins and both fighters begin trading until they become entangled against the cage. David Allred is getting outhit by Martinez. On top of having an insanely awesome first name, Radley has a pretty decent striking game to match his NCAA wrestling All-American ground game.
They both end up tangled up against the cage wall again and begin to use their clinch game—especially knees—on each other. Rad then picks up Allred and slams him onto the mat getting a couple of shots in before standing back up.
Rad then lands a couple of shots on Allred and eventually lands the knockout blow only a couple minutes into the fight.
Since the fight in 2009 Allred has gone a perfect 5-0 with three victories by submission and one by TKO (doctor stoppage).
Rad of course was in the middle of his eight-fight win streak and went on to a 5-1 record and will now be a new addition to the Bellator featherweight division. Not a bad fighter considering the amount of time he is in the gym.
