ESPN ESPY Awards 2011: Abby Wambach Scores Big for Team USA with Best Play

ESPN ESPY Awards 2011 Witnesses Abby Wambach and Team USA Win ESPY for Best Play

The last play to be added to the voting for the 2011 ESPY Award for Best Play turned out to be the winner.  Abby Wambach's game-tying header against Brazil in the 2011 Women's World Cup was added just days before the ESPYs, but the play came away with the award for Best Play.

There is no doubt the play deserved it, it was an incredible goal at an incredible moment from a team that was a player down in a game that staged off elimination.

Wambach and Team USA certainly deserved to be honored for the moment, and the game probably would have rivaled the Eagles vs. Giants for Best Game had they been added and had time to get enough votes.
