Jalen Rose: ESPN Analyst Ticketed After Speeding Away from Sentencing
Sometimes life just smacks you in the face, takes your lunch money and then asks you to apologize for getting in its way. Jalen Rose is not having a good week.
The ESPN analyst was in a Michigan courtroom on Wednesday. He was facing sentencing for drunken-driving crash near Detroit he had in March.
Luck was not on his side. ESPN reports the full details of the day's events here. Rose faced 48th District Court Judge Kimberly Small. Her usual sentence in a case like this is 17 days. Rose received 20.
Before I continue, I want to say that Rose made his bed, so he can sleep in what ever state the mattress might be in.
Rose crashed into a snowy road on that March night, but he could have easily done much worse. There is something to be said about sending a message that a DUI is a grave crime that will be punished.
Now, with remorse in his heart, Rose was not having a good day on Wednesday. The Judge came down harsher than she normally does.
After the sentence was passed, Rose sped off. He was later pulled over and cited for doing 46 miles per hour in a 25-mph zone.
The ESPN analysts just couldn't win for losing. We have all had days where the stars align in a way tat absolutely nothing goes right.
Rose had one of those days yesterday. Through it all, he must have thought that karma packed its bags and deserted him. I hate to say it, but if this is how he learns his lesson, so be it.
Shame on him for speeding off after leaving court. Sure, most of this is his fault. In fact, all of it may be. But he is not having an auspicious time right now.
If you see Rose on the street, stay clear. Luck is clearly not on his side.
