Bye Week Comes at Critical Time for Dabo Swinney and His Clemson Football Team
Following a stressful, hectic, and emotional week in the wake of former head coach Tommy Bowden stepping down as head coach of the Clemson Tiger football team, the Tiger Nation was stunned with a heart-breaking loss to the hated rivals from Georgia Tech.
Understanding it would be difficult to muster a win with a new head coach and a first-time starter in Willie Korn, hopes were still high the Tigers could turn around the season that has thus far been stricken with nothing but prescriptions for antidepressants. But the short turn-around time for first-time head coach Dabo Swinney
Unfortunately for the Tiger football team, neither high emotion nor excitement was enough to lift the struggling Tigers to a victory. 4 interceptions and 2 fumbles further crippled the already gimpy Tiger offense. A total lapse in judgment on a wide receiver pass by Tyler Grisham ended up in the hands of Georgia Tech’s Dominique Reese for a touchdown. This seemed to set the tone for the rest of the day.
Despite the unbelievable amount of turnovers for Clemson, they were still in it until a bite on a pump fake sent Clemson’s secondary jumping a short route and GT throwing the eventual game-winning touchdown.
All in all, the Tigers did not look terrible for a team who started a rookie quarterback, started a rookie head coach, and realistically started a new season. Tomorrow’s game against Boston College will be a true test to the preparation skills of coach Dabo Swinney and the true heart and willpower of the Clemson Tiger football team.
