Manny Pacquiao: Power Ranking Pac-Man's 15 Biggest Wins

Mick AkersJun 6, 2018

In a career has spanned over 16 years, Manny Pacquiao (53-3-2, 38 KO's) has had his share of big wins during his illustrious career.

With over 50 wins to his credit it was a tough task selecting his 15 biggest wins, but in the end I felt like some of his wins just meant more than others for various reasons.

With potentially his biggest win of his career still on the horizon—a bout with Floyd Mayweather—here are Pac-Man's biggest wins to date.

15. Manny Pacquiao's First Profesional Fight

1 of 15

Although it wasn't Manny Pacquiao's most flashy fight, his first professional fight certainly fits the bill as one of the biggest fights in his career.

Winning a unanimous decision over Edmund Enting Ignacio in a four-round bout held in Mindoro Occidental, Philippines, Pacquiao introduced himself to the boxing world on January 22, 1995.

14. TKO over Lehlohonolo Ledwaba

2 of 15

In June of 2001 Manny Pacquiao said hello to the USA for the first time taking on Lehlohonolo Ledwaba the IBF Super Bantamweight Champion at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas,NV.

Pacquiao took the fight against Ledwaba on two weeks notice after Enrique Sanchez pulled out of the fight, and gave Pacquiao a chance to get his name out there and get the already growing buzz around his name to a new level.

Pacquiao took the opportunity and ran with it knocking down Ledwaba three times during the fight which was stopped in Round 6 where Pacquiao was credited with a TKO.

The fight makes the list due to the simple fact that it was Pac-Man's first taste of what success in the States could be like, something I feel pushed Pacquiao even harder during the mid-point of his career.

13. KO Choktal Chockvlvat

3 of 15

On June 26 1997 Manny Pacquiao took on Choktal Chockvlvat in Mandaluyong, Philippines for the OPBF flyweight title.

Pacquiao did not hold back in his first shot at a title, and made easy work of Chockvlvat knocking him out in Round 5 of the scheduled 12.

Of course winning his first title as a professional had to make the list of the biggest fights in Pac-Man's history, especially when it was done in such convincing style.

12. KO of Chatchai Sasakul to Win First WBC Title

4 of 15

In December of 1998 Manny Pacquiao was given his first shot at winning a major title—already held the minor OPBF title—fighting the then reigning WBC Flyweight Champion Chatchai Sasakul in Thailand in Pacquiao's second fight outside of the Philippines.

Although Chatchai had his way early in the fight, but Pacquiao started to land power shots more and more as the fight went one, causing the fight to turn into a brawl.

As Pacquiao and Chatchai exchanged power shots in Round 8, Pacquiao caught Chatchai with a right hook, left uppercut combo. then finished him off with a left hook giving Pacquiao his first WBC title.

11. KO of Reynante Jamili

5 of 15

Reynante Jamili came into his fight in December of 1999 with Manny Pacquiao not too concerned with Pacquiao—being that Pacquiao not only just lost to Medgoen Singsurat, but also was making a jump in weight classes, and Jamili just beat hearalded fighter Erik Morales—and wasn't prepared for what he was about to encounter.

Pacquiao showed that he had the skills and the ability to carry his power up a weight class winning by TKO in Round 2 after knocking Jamili down three times before his corner threw in the towel.

Pacquiao's win gave him a title in his a second weight class, his second of many more to come in his career.

10. Unanimous Decision over Antonio Margarito

6 of 15

In a fight called the World Super Welterweight Championship, Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito did not disappoint, helping the fight live up to its name.

Pacquiao and Margarito went at it and Pacquiao got the better of the two. All though Margarito almost knocked Pacquiao down in Round 6, Pacquiao gave Margarito a beating of a lifetime.

The fight went the full 12 rounds and Pacquiao was declared the unanimous winner after causing three cuts to Margarito's face, to which Pacquiao asked the referee to stop the fight late in the fight.

After the fight Margarito did not attend the post-fight press conference, as he went to the hospital to discover that Pacquiao had fractured his right orbital bone in the fight, giving the boxing world one of the worst post-fight faces ever.

9. TKO over Hector Velazquez

7 of 15

Coming back from a loss at the hands of Erik Morales in March of 2005, Manny Pacquiao took on Hector Velazquez for the vacant WBC Super Featherweight title at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA in September of 2005.

The fight went six rounds—in which Pacquiao was the aggressor in—and came to an end when Velazquez was caught with a strong right while throwing wild punches with no regard for Pac-Man's power. Velazquez was pounded on until he went to one knee towards the end of the round where the referee stepped in and called a stop to the fight.

Pacquaio once again showed that he could come back from a loss in blazing fashion and picked up the WBC Super Featherweight title in the process.

8.TKO Against Fahsan Por Thawatchai

8 of 15

In December of 2004 Manny Pacquiao was coming off a controversial draw against Juan Manuel Marquez, and had plenty to prove against Fashan Por Thawatchai.

Pacquiao came out with a chip on his shoulder and displayed his superior boxing skills against Thawatchai, picking apart his opponent as Pacquiao often does.

It all culminated in the Round 4 TKO of Thawatchai where in the last knock down before the referee called the fight Pacquiao faked Thawatchai out with a right , then came is with a devastating left uppercut ending the fight eight rounds early.

7. TKO of Miguel Cotto

9 of 15

Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao went at each other in their November 2009 World Welterweight title fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas,NV.

Pacquiao and Cotto spent the first two rounds feeling each other out, then in the third round Pacquiao took over and knocked Cotto down, and again in Round 4.

Although Cotto did not give up, he was fighting an uphill battle from Round 3 on and it took a toll on Cotto.

Pacquiao battered Cotto's face so bad that Cotto's wife had to leave the arena, not wanting to see her husband sustain anymore damage. The fight was eventually stopped early in Round 12 after Cotto's blood covered face impaired his vision and didn't allow him to see Pacquiao's gloves coming his way.

6. TKO of David Diaz

10 of 15

In July of 2008 Pacquiao again moved up in weight to the lightweight division to meet up with then WBC Lightweight Champion David Diaz at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV.

Pacquiao again showed the abilty to carry his power up in weight with him and dominated the fight against Diaz.

In Round 9 Diaz's output had been dropping round-after-round and was clearly taking a beating. The fight most likely would have been stopped between Round 9 and 10 if Pacquiao had not landed a devastating left that dropped Diaz to his face and brought the ref in to stop the fight.

5. KO of Erik Morales

11 of 15

Manny Pacquiao got a chance to avenge a loss to Erik Morales in a featherweight fight in November of 2006 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas,NV.

Pacquiao sustained a unanimous decision loss to Morales less than one year prior to the rematch, and Pacquiao had no intentions other than knocking out Morales to show the boxing world he was the better fighter.

It didn't take long for Pacquiao to finish off Morales in this fight knocking him out in Round 3 of the scheduled 12-round fight putting Pacquiao back on the list of boxing's elite.

4. TKO of Marco Antonio Barrera

12 of 15

In November of 2003 Manny Pacquiao took on Marco Antonio Barrera for the Ring Featherweight world title at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio,TX.

In a brawler's classic, Paquiao and Barrera went at each other trading blow-for-blow throughout most of the fight with Pacquiao getting knocked down in Round 1 of the fight.

After that first round knock down the Pacquiao evened the bout with a knock down of his own in Round 3. The fight went back and fourth until Round 7 where Barerra sustained a nasty cut from a head butt, but fought on.

Barrera held his own until Round 11 where Pacquiao knocked Barrera down again, causing his corner to throw in the towel giving Pacquiao the TKO victory, and the Ring Featherweight title.

3. Juan Manuel Marquez Revenge

13 of 15

After fighting to a draw in their first fight Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez went at each other for a second time to settle the score.

The fight seemed to bring out the best of what each fighter had to offer giving the fans a great action-packed fight.

Going blow-for-blow most of the night, Pacquiao scored the only knock down of the fight in Round 3.

Again the two went the full 12 rounds and left the deciding up to the judges. Pacquiao's knock down of Marquez ended up being the difference maker in the fight giving Pacquiao the split decision win and retained his WBC Super Featherweight title.

2. TKO of Oscar De La Hoya

14 of 15

Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao met for a superstar battle in December of 2008 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas,NV.

Pacquiao was yet again making a jump up in weight, moving from lightweight to a catch weight fight of 147 pounds.

Even though De La Hoya was clearly at the end of his storied career, he was still favored over Pacqiuao due to his height advantage and his, not having to move up in weight to make the fight happen.

Pacquiao ended up giving De La Hoya the beating of his career and the fight was stopped after Round 8 when De La Hoya's corner convinced him Pacquiao was to quick for him.

1. KO of Ricky Hatton

15 of 15

Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao met up in May of 2009 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas,NV to fight for Hatton's IBO and The Ring Lightweight titles.

After Floyd Mayweather Jr. showed the world that Hatton could indeed be knocked down and out three fights earlier, Pacquiao took advantage of the newly found weakness for Hatton.

Not wasting much time Pacquiao came out firing in Round 1 and took the fight over right out the gates knocking Hatton down twice in the opening stanza.

Pacquiao eventually KO'd Hatton in Round 2 of the fight making him the second person in history to win titles in six different weight classes.
