MLB Home Run Derby Contestants Heating Up and Ready to Showcase Power

Everybody is hyped for annual Home Run Derby. Despite some questionable participants thanks to captains David Ortiz and Prince Fielder, it seems all participants are heating up and ready to showcase their talents on center stage.
Since the participants were announced earlier this week, it seems all eight sluggers have turned on the power as they prepare for the classic midsummer slugfest.
Ortiz can’t seem to wait to get the All Star break. He’s as hot as ever after his benches-clearing scuffle with Baltimore’s Kevin Gregg last night. Big Papi has five hits in his past four games with two homers and four runs batted in.
His teammate Adrian Gonzalez has six hits in the past three games with two ribbies and a bomb of his own.
Yankees stud second baseman Robinson Cano has five hits, two RBI and a blast to the stands in the last three contests.
Jose Bautista, or Joey Bats as I believe we need to call him from now on, has five hits, five RBI and two knocks of his own in the past four games. Better yet, he has five homers in the first week of July!
NL captain Fielder has five hits, one HR and three RBI in four games. Teammate Rickie Weeks has four hits, five RBI and two homers in the last two contests.
Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Matt Kemp has not homered since June 27, but he belted nine of his 22 home runs last month. Perhaps he’s save up for a monster performance at the Derby? He still has four hits and two RBI since July 5.
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday takes the cake. He had just 10 homers prior to being announced as a slugfest participant. He’s blasted a whopping four home runs on seven hits to drive in eight runners. He has been simply astonishing since being awarded a spot in the Derby.
Our eight superstars have totaled an amazing 13 home runs over a four-game period. We still have to play games today and tomorrow, which is absolutely amazing.
This is great to see as funs because it means we will certainly be in for a fantastic show on Monday night with their pitchers lobbing balls to them on center stage. These men red hot heading into the Derby and will provide us with another surreal, jaw-dropping event.
