2011 MLB Home Run Derby's Latest Odds for Each Contestant
The Home Run Derby is always one of the most exciting events of the year and this year shouldn't be much different.
The MLB has decided to use gold balls this year which should be amusing to see. Plus there happens to be a swimming pool in the outfield at Chase Field so we may also get to see plenty of splashdowns.
The event takes place on Monday, July 11th at 8:00 PM and features eight MLB stars. Here are the current odds for the event according to Bodog Sports:
Jose Bautista 3:1
Prince Fielder 7:2
David Ortiz 9:2
Matt Holiday 9:2
Adrian Gonzalez 6:1
Matt Kemp 15:2
Robinson Cano 15:2
Rickie Weeks 12:1
The smart money is obviously on Jose Bautista, but the payout is also the smallest. However, there really isn't a bargain bet here unless you really believe that Adrian Gonzalez can pull off a victory in which case you can make bring in $600 on a $100 bet.
Prince Fielder and David Ortiz are always threats to win this event as well so if one of them went on to win it would not surprise anyone. Expect the line to end up around 5/2 on Jose Bautista prior to the start of the event, so now would be the time to jump on him.
