Manchester City Transfer News: Carlos Tevez Forcing His Way out of City?
Manchester City has just landed Gael Clichy from Arsenal today, but it seems they could be on their way to subtracting their captain this summer instead simply welcoming a 25-year-old French defender.
According to Sky Sports' Bryan Swanson's tweets, Tevez wants to leave City again:
"Breaking - Carlos Tevez says he wants to leave #mcfc this summer. Full statement on #ssn
"
This is yet again an attempt by the Argentine to force his way out of City.
The 27-year-old forward helped City to their first EUFA Champions League appearance behind a third-place finish in the Premier League. He was awarded the captain's armband over Kolo Toure to start the season and was a big reason why the club was involved at the top of England in the first place
But Tevez apparently wants to leave England and was quoted by the BBC saying, "I need to be closer to them and to spend more time with them."
And by them, he means his two daughters, Florencia and Katia.
An Argentine native, Tevez joined City in 2009 after a stint at Manchester United. He's been playing professionally in England since 2006.
The last time Tevez suited up for an Argentine club was in 2004 for the Boca Juniors, and the Primera Division club is actually his longest career stint to date.
Tevez is a lightning rod for controversy wherever he goes. As a star for the Argentine national team, he attracts almost as much attention as Lionel Messi at times because of his abrasive nature.
It is hardly surprising to see him stealing headlines on the same day that Manchester City stole Gael Clichy from Arsenal. The club is also in pursuit of Clichy's teammate, Samir Nasri.
Obviously if Tevez is forcing his way out of St. Marks, it will be to return back home to a team willing to take him on.
Despite his help and performance last season, City would be wise to get rid of this malcontent, self-absorbed star once and for all.
