The Boston Red Sox are currently in first place in the American League East, but the New York Yankees aren't far behind him.

With a couple of weeks before the trade deadline, many rumors begin to surface in regards to all the playoff contending teams. The Boston Red Sox are rumored to be interested in guys like Carlos Beltran or Hunter Pence, as well as pitchers Matt Garza, Wandy Rodriguez or John Danks.

However, everyone's pre-season favorite should just stay put. No team is perfect, and obviously everyone could serve to get better, but the Red Sox are extremely talented and don't need to make any trades.

The Red Sox have the best offense in the Major League Baseball right now. As a team, they are averaging .274, but they have scored a total of 498 runs, which is 24 more than the second place team.

Several people wrote them off after early struggles to begin the season, but the Red Sox are too deep to give up on. Their offseason acquisitions made them a very strong team, and that is why they don't need to make any trades before the July 31 trade deadline.

Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, David Ortiz, Kevin Youkilis and Dustin Pedroia have enough power to carry this team very far. There pitching has taken a hit because of injuries, but Jon Lester is set to return soon, and it will boost the Red Sox moving forward.

The Red Sox may add players at the trade deadline, but Theo Epstein should realize this team is fine just the way they are. There's a reason everyone picked them at the start of the season to win the World Series because they're talented all over.

Boston should play it smart and not make any moves right now. The offense on this team is superb, and it will take them to the playoffs and beyond.
