Tis' the season for Brett Favre rumors and the latest involves the Philadelphia Eagles.

Here is the report courtesy of philadelphiaeagles.com:

WIP's Howard Eskin, appearing on NBC 10, said that the notion of the Eagles pursuing Favre is "possible." Favre, of course, is retired, though that hasn't stopped him from coming back before. He has a long-standing relationship with both Eagles head coach Andy Reid and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg dating back to their days in Green Bay.

The chance of this actually happening is about .000001 percent. Michael Vick is firmly entrenched atop the depth chart at QB—something Favre wouldn't stand for. At this point it's almost a foregone conclusion that backup Kevn Kolb will be traded and a new guy will be needed to step in for the injury prone Vick.

It's not going to be Favre.

The odds of him returning to the NFL are already slim and the Eagles don't make sense. If he is to comeback out of retirement for the 200th time, it's going to be with a team that gives him a chance to start. Favre has never been willing to be the second banana.

His body broke down before our eyes last season and now he is a whole year older. He also wants to win a Super Bowl...something few teams that need a QB could offer him at this point.

With the way his 2010 season ended, one could understand why he wants redemption. The 41-year old is always searching for that storybook ending. He tried with both the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings—failing each time.

Let's hope Favre has finally realized that a guy that is approaching AARP status shouldn't be at a job where 25-year old defensive lineman weighing upward of 350 pounds are trying to knock his head in.
