Chelsea is still expected to make a big impact in the transfer window, as usual, and a £45 million bid for Palermo's Javier Pastore would create that influence.
At least that's what the Daily Mirror is reporting.
The Blues have targeted a wealth of high-profile strikers, including Pastore, Belgian starlet Romelu Lukaku and Porto's Falcao.
Pastore may be the most expensive, but completing a deal for at least one of the three would be huge for the club.

The news of Gael Clichy's deal with Manchester City has spread fast, and the Gunners have reacted quickly.
Mirror Football reports that Arsenal is in for a shock bid for Manchester United's John O'Shea to replace Clichy at fullback. The club still has Gary Cahill as its top target, but £17 million may be too much.
According to the Sun, Arsene Wenger reportedly will ink Lille's forward Gervinho for £11 million.

In a Mirror Football update, Manchester City apparently have finalized a move for Arsenal's Gael Clichy. This comes just a day after Bayern Muniched reportedly will increase its bid for Jerome Boateng.
But now that Clichy's £7 transfer looks completed, City will swoop to finish Samir Nasri's deal, a reported £180,000 a week for the Frenchman.
Mirror Football says £15 will be the bid from City.

In recent days, the rumors of a Charlie Adam completion have teased everyone.
The deal, according to Mirror Football, has caught a snag. First of all, Blackpool intended to reject Liverpool's £9 million bid.
The Reds plan to counter by adding Danny Wilson to the deal. Now they wait.
Caughtoffside reports that Liverpool is also taking a look at Manchester City's seldom used James Milner. The English international is another to add to the list of replacements if Raul Meireles indeed heads out of Anfield.

With Aston Villa having recently sold Ashley Young to Manchester United and a bid to re-acquire James Milner rejected, the club has looked at cheaper talent.
According to Birmingham Mail, Villa is still interested in Wigan's winger Charles N'Zogbia.
And with Stewart Downing's future with the club uncertain, the club is taking precautions.
Footy Bunker reported that Shaun Wright-Phillips is another option for consideration in the midfielder.

Amidst the reports that Mikel Arteta is looking for a switch out of Goodison Park, Everton has already made plans for his replacement.
The Toffees, according to Footy Bunker, will look at Tottenham's Niko Kranjcar. The Croatian fell somewhat out of favor at White Hart Lane, but has inconsistently demonstrated some promise in the midfield.
An Arteta departure would be devastating for the club, but Kranjcar is a worthy pick-me-up.

When many expected Sunderland to sign strikers to aid its offensive woes, the Black Cats deviated slightly.
According to the Guardian, Birmingham's Seb Larsson will complete a three-year deal with Sunderland.
In addition to winger, the Daily Mail reports that the club is also keen on bringing Manchester United's defender Wes Brown.
Blackpool's best striker from last season is set to complete a £1.25 million move, according to the Sun.
Many expect QPR to attract a flurry of players for the club's first season in England's top flight in 15 years.
It wasn't expected for Campbell to remain at Bloomfield Road, after his late-season surge for the Tangerines.
