NFL Free Agency Rumors: Seattle Isn't Matt Leinart's Only Possible Destination

I know that everyone expects Pete Carrol to establish some sort of type of satellite USC campus in the Pacific Northwest by bringing in Reggie Bush, and/or Carson Palmer, and/or Matt Barkley to join Mike Williams and Lofa Tatupu, but I don't think Matt Leinart has to enroll if he wants to continue playing in the NFL.
National Football Post's Dan Pompei recently wrote that 'it would almost be an upset if the Seahawks didn’t sign Matt Leinart to come in as a backup. The Seahawks might not be crazy about what they have seen of Leinart on tape, but coach Pete Carroll has won a lot of games with him, and he thinks he can win some more."
But I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Leinart land somewhere else. In fact, I expect him to.
There's no sugar coating the fact that Leinart has been a tremendous, even all-time memorable, bust. But I still think there are teams out there who--knowing they can have him at a relatively cheap price--will take a look at him.
And he certainly had his moments of success, most notably the early portion of the 2006 season, his rookie year.
There has to be an offensive coach out there who thinks their system is the right fit for him. Maybe it's in San Francisco or Miami or Washington, where each team is going to keep their quarterback options wide open.
Leinart is still young, 28-years-old, and hasn't been banged up at all in his five seasons (because he basically hasn't played since his rookie year) so there aren't too many physical reasons keeping him from finding a job. (Yes, his arm strength has been knocked, but if Chad Pennington can survive a decade in the NFL, I think so can Leinart).
No, the question with Leinart ever since he joined the NFL has always been about his desire to work and study and dedicate himself to the NFL. That's something that can be learned over time. Now that he was rather embarrassingly cut from the Cardinals and spent the entire 2010 season on the bench in Houston, maybe he's got his head on straight and knows this will be his last shot to make something of his career.
