My First Game Impressions

Mike ThomasContributor IOctober 30, 2008

The Sixers first game is over and i am pretty impressed. I think Sam Dalembert did a great job on the boards as we outscored the Raptors 24-7 in rebounding. Chris Bosh finished with 27 points and 11 rebounds. He was dominate all game and the Sixers could not contain him. The newly acquired Jermaine Oneal was also impressive, finishing with 17 points and 8 rebounds. The Sixers left to many shooters wide open from three, Jason Kapono, Jose Calderon, and Anthony Parker hit three threes each. From the Sixers side Thaddeus Young got them going early with a three pointer but couldn't do much else because of early foul trouble. Andre Miller did his thing finishing with 13 points and 5 assist. The newly acquired Elton Brand was impressive on the boards, he went to his familiar face up jump shot early in the game. He also did well on the boards grabbing 13. He finished with 14 points. I was impressed with sweet Lou Williams scoring the ball, but his inability to pick up the pick and roll defense was his problem, as he allowed Calderon to knock down threes. He went 5-15 from the field taking a surprising 7 threes, he was 2-7 from three. Andre Iguodala was not aggressive. He went 5-15 and went 0-5 from three finishing with 15 points. It was the first game so everyone was getting adjusted with the new group and players it seemed. Its a long season and it looks to be an exciting one. GO SIXERS!
