In this SkySports post-fight interview, British title challenger Matthew Macklin (28-3, 19 KO) expressed his thoughts on his split-decision loss to WBA Super-Middleweight Champion Felix Sturm (36-2-1, 15 KO) on Saturday. The fight took place at the Lanxess-Arena in Cologne, Germany.

"In my mind, there's no doubt I won," said Macklin, who out-worked the German for the majority of the fight. "I think I started a bit to quick and hurt him a few times and probably got a bit excited. There weren't many rounds he won clearly. Even in the rounds that were close, I was doing all the work."

The three judges had the fight scored 116-112 twice for Sturm and 115-113 for Macklin. Macklin started strong and kept a aggressive pace throughout the bout. Sturm landed the more accurate punches and finished with a strong last round, hurting Macklin in the final seconds of the bout.

"I won the fight. I don't care who had it what," said the 29-year-old in response to the SkySports commentator saying he had the fight scored for him.

"I fought with my heart. I was winning them on work-rate. He knows I beat him. Do you think he would give me a rematch if he thought he beat me? Not a prayer. He's giving me a rematch because he's embarrassed because German TV had him losing by four. That's why he is giving me a rematch because he has to.

"Next time, I'll smash him to pieces. Next time, they won't be able to rob me. No chance."
