Mr. Consistency

For Utah and Jazz fans a like there are great memories that have been made by one man, Jerry Sloan. He has coached 21 seasons with the Jazz and has over 1000 wins with one team. Thats the most in the NBA. He has coached the best guard and forward in the game, John Stockton and Karl Malone. The Jazz’s success have been due to the consistent coaching by Coach Sloan.

Sloan may not be the crowd favorite or the most liked around the NBA but he has what a lot of coaches don’t have — that’s character.

Sloan is solid in what he believes and that’s what people admire most about him. He consistently uses his bread-and-butter style basketball with a dominate guard and dominate forward. He does what no other coach believes. Staying together.

“He always talks about keeping the same teams intact, and keeping guys together. I think it helps,” Jazz guard Deron Williams said. “There’s not a lot of teaching to be done. It’s just a matter of getting everything crisp, and tightening things defensively. You know, everybody here knows the offense. It hasn’t changed in 19 years.”

With experience under his belt and an desire for consistency Sloan is one of the top coaches in the league.

The 66 year old widowed coach shows no signs of giving up on championship hopes. ESPN rated the Jazz number four in the league this year. As a die hard Jazz and Sloan fan, I still believe a championship will come to Utah.

I sure hope it comes soon before Sloan leaves. Where would Utah be without Jerry Sloan?

Perhaps Utah would be… Inconsistent?
