Manchester United: Transfer Timeline for David De Gea as He Completes Medical

Spanish U21 keeper David de Gea has been on the verge of a move to Old Trafford since the second half of last season. With the impending retirement of Edwin Van Der Sar, Sir Alex Ferguson was laying plans for his future.
It now seems that those plans to fill the boots of the Dutch legend have come to fruition, as it appears that one of Spain's brightest prospects is about to make his switch to the Theatre of Dreams.

The Daily Mail posted pictures of the Spanish U21 European Champion entering Manchester United's training facility to complete his medical before the completion of a £17.8million transfer deal that would see him officially become the new first choice keeper at Old Trafford.
With his signature it will make him the third signing for Sir Alex Ferguson this summer, and with the looks to where he is going, his team is well on the way to being rebuilt for the future as he has already inked England national's Phil Jones, and Ashley Young.
De Gea has all the time and talent in the world and looks to make a name for himself in England after having pushed into Atletico Madrid's first team at only 19 years of age.
He will be taking the place of a veteran keeper in Edwin Van Der Sar that won four league titles, a UEFA Champions League title, and one Carling Cup during his time between the Old Trafford pipes.
With this news Sir Alex looks to keep pressing on in the transfer market and continue to rebuild he squad in hopes of keeping up the record pace for United that he has been pressing since before his three latest members were even born.

Another ESPNsoccernet.com article stated at the end of the 2010-11 regular season that according to Sir Alex Ferguson, David de Gea would indeed be making the switch from Atletico Madrid to Manchester United as the replacement for Edwin Van Der Sar.
The young Spaniard was believed to have many of the same qualities as his successor according to Ferguson, and again the move looked to be imitate.
This time the expected price was in the range of £16million, £1.5million less than previously believed.

David De Gea begins talk with Manchester United over a move that would see him leave Atletico Madrid.
Atletico would go on to finish 9th in La Liga with De Gea collecting 38 appearances in the league competition. He also gathered 154 saves and 11 clean sheets.
The move was expected to be in the range of £17.5million according to ESPNsoccernet.com.
