It is important that United sign quality players following the retirements of Paul Scholes and Edwin Van Der Sar.
United have been active in the transfer window so far and have already sealed the signings of highly rated youngster Phil Jones and winger Ashley Young from Aston Villa. Ferguson is a manager who always has the hunger to win more trophies, and he will demand his players to perform at the highest level.
Though Barcelona were the better team in the Champions League final, Ferguson will not be happy with the team's performance, and there could be a few additions in the squad as he looks to attain both domestic and European glory.

According to Tribalfootball.com, Manchester United midfielder is only interested in staying at Old Trafford and wants to help the Red Devils win more trophies. He has been linked with AC Milan and Juventus but after these recent quotes, it is likely that he will stay at United.
"It would be an honour for me to keep playing for Manchester United" he said."I just want to stay at Manchester United. As an Asian player, it's an honour to play for the biggest club in the world. I want to achieve the 20th league title for United."
Park Ji Sung is not a certain starter for United but he is amongst the most trusted players by Sir Alex Ferguson because the Asian has featured in a number of important games for United this season including the games against Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea. Though Ashley Young has been signed by United, Park will still have an important role for United under Alex Ferguson because of his immense work ethic and his capability to produce in important games.

According to Tribalfootball.com, Manchester United are prepared to test Arsenal's resolve with a £20 million bid for midfielder Samir Nasri, who is yet to pen a new contract with only one year currently remaining on his deal. The Manchester Evening News are reporting that Sir Alex Ferguson has returned from his holidays and will be actively involved in sealing deals for their transfer targets.
He is keen to replace Paul Scholes, who retired after the Champions League final and Nasri, who has played in a central role, could be targeted by the Manchester United manager. However, much could also depend on the future of Cesc Fabregas and if Barcelona are successful in striking a deal for Cesc Fabregas, then it is difficult for United to sign Samir Nasri.
Nasri had an excellent season with Arsenal and though he did fade off in the second half of the season, he is one of the best young prospects in the world, which is why United are interested. However, if he does not sign a new contract, Arsenal would not prefer to sell a player of his quality to rivals Manchester United and would rather sell him to a foreign team.

According to Tribalfootball.com, QPR manager Neil Warnock is considering a move for injury prone midfielder Owen Hargreaves, who was released by Manchester United recently due to his various injury problems. The midfielder is one of the most talented players in the world but he has been very unfortunate with injuries and has hardly played in the last two seasons.
The Daily Star Sunday says Warnock could do with the former Bayern Munich star’s Premier League experience as the Hoops look to improve their squad in order to stay in the top flight for more than one season. Hargreaves could be signed on a pay-as-you-play deal due to his various injury problems. His quality is not in doubt but his fitness means that not many clubs are ready to gamble on the midfielder.
MLS sides Vancouver and Toronto are also interested in signing Hargeaves and QPR could have to fight competition from the teams in order to sign him.

According to the Daily Mail, Bayern Munich are planning to bid around £20 million for Portugal International Nani, whose place in the team could be under threat with the signing of Ashley Young from Aston Villa. The German giants have quality wingers in Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben but they have struggled to cope with their absence due to injuries, especially when the Dutchman is injured.
Nani is undoubtedly a quality winger but he will not be satisfied being on the bench and he will want to play regularly. However, Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to keep him at Old Trafford and according to Skysports News, Nani is ready to fight for his place in the team.
"Of course I have to welcome everyone they sign, I think Manchester United is a fantastic club," said Nani. "When they bring in new players, they know if it is good for the team or not, and this (Young signing) has to help them. It is good for the team, we want more (players) to help us to win trophies."
Nani had an excellent season with United and will hope to build on that in the next season. Though he did not start the game against Barcelona, he is important to the team as he is one of the players who has the creativity to influence games.

According to the Mirror, Newcastle are planning to hijack Sunderland's move for Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson, who has been given permission to talk with Sunderland after the club accepted a £5 million bid from Sunderland. However, Alan Pardew's team is interested in the midfielder and could match their rival's bid in the next 48 hours in order to hijack Sunderland's potential move.
The Manchester United youngster accepts that he has no future at Manchester United and with Sir Alex Ferguson looking for a replacement for the retired Paul Scholes, Gibson could move to a club where he could gain more playing time. Both Sunderland and Newcastle have lost important midfielders Jordan Henderson and Kevin Nolan respectively and Gibson could be targeted as a replacement for them.
Darron Gibson is uncertain as to whether a move to Sunderland under Steve Bruce is the right move for his career but it is very likely that he would move in order to play regularly and stay in the Republic of Ireland team.

According to the Mirror, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has made a £15 million offer for Barcelona and Spain midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who had an excellent Euro U-21 tournament. The Barcelona midfielder is one of the most highly rated prospects to emerge from the La Masia academy and the United manager is keen on signing him as a replacement for the retired Paul Scholes.
Barcelona's midfield trio of Xavi Hernadez, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets is arguably the best in the world and Thiago will struggle to get enough playing time in the next season as well, which is why he could leave. However, Pep Guardiola rates the midfielder highly and wants him in the long term. Even if they sell him, they want to have a buy-back clause in the deal which will not be agreed by Manchester United.

According to Tribalfootball.com, Manchester United have joined the race to sign Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, who was prolific in 2010-11. Manchester City and Real Madrid are also reportedly interested but Naples sources say that Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to beat his rivals to the signature of Cavani. United's chief talent-spotter Martin Ferguson has scouted Cavani on a number of occasions this season and his positive reports could mean that Manchester United could move for the talented striker.
However, it is unsure as to why Manchester United would be interested in a striker, who will not come at a bargain because Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez have performed at a high level for United in the last season and it is not an area where Manchester United need to spend big though there is a good possibility that Dimitar Berbatov will leave the club.

According to Goal.com, Wolves manager Mick McCarthy is interested in Manchester United defender Jonny Evans and could make a move for the defender in the summer, as they could miss out on some other transfer targets. An offer of around £7 million could be enough to tempt the Premier League champions into a deal, though it remains to be seen if the player would make the move to the Midlands outfit.
Manchester United recently signed Phil Jones from Blackburn and Evans is currently behind Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling and Jones in the pecking order and could move in order to play more regularly. It is also possible that Evans could be loaned out in order to gain more playing time that he needs to rectify his errors.
Rio Ferdinand has been injury prone in the recent past which is why Ferguson might be keen on Evans in the long term and could loan him out to a Premier League club.
Celtic left back Emilio Izaguirre had an excellent 2010-11 season which has drawn the attention of many top clubs around the world. According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are expected to hold talks with Celtic regarding the possible transfer of Honduras International Izaguirre.
The Left Back has also attracted the interests of Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle but it seems like United are closer to sealing the deal. He said: 'I have to confirm it's 100 percent true that Manchester United were following me and were interested in me. It was Alex Ferguson directly who made contact with the Celtic directors.
Patrice Evra is first choice left back for United and he is amongst the best left backs while Fabio da Silva can fill in any of the fullback positions. However, Sir Alex Ferguson would like to have quality depth in his side to cope with any potential injuries in the side

Ferguson wants to have a talented keeper to replace Van Der Sar and has identified De Gea as the one to replace Van Der Sar. De Gea won the Euro U-21 tournament and with the tournament now over, he is ready to seal his move to United.
