TNA: AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe vs Christopher Daniels; The Feud That Made TNA

0 of 5

There have always been feuds that defined an era. There have also been feuds that defined a career. Then, there are those feuds that define a company.

Styles/Daniels/Joe is one of those feuds that defines a company.

Before TNA was relevant, it was a company that had to work its way up. It was a company with potential but had yet to unleash it to become a mainstream company.

A glimpse of that potential was finally released when Samoa Joe faced off against AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels in a Triple Threat Ultimate X Match for the X-Division title.

Ever since the first encounter between all three men occurred, a feud for the ages began.

From Destination X to Turning Point, let's look at the feud that made TNA relevant in the first place by looking at every encounter between the three men. (Highlights of the matches included)

The "Unbreakable" First Encounter

    The First Encounter.

This match was for the X-Division championship, Samoa Joe and Aj Styles were the challengers while Christopher Daniels was the X-Division champion.

Daniels was working as a heel, and he walked into the match as the longest reigning X-division champion at that time with a record of six months in his reign.

This match was the start of the beginning, and it showed with the chemistry that all three men had.

It is widely considered by many to be the best encounter that these three men ever had and the best match in TNA history.

I beg to differ, as I prefer their most recent encounter more, but this was surely a good match as well.

For the X-Division championship, this match seemed as if it was as important as the TNA championship!

The fact that the audiences kept chanting "Awesome" and other similar chants throughout just made this match better.

With many exciting spots, the finish was simply unexpected where "the Fallen Angel" truly became fallen.

Ultimate X for the X-Division's Glory

2 of 5

AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe vs Christopher Daniels I at Destination X 2006 in an Ultimate X Match

The X-Division is the same division that differentiated TNA from any other wrestling company in the world.

It helped bring classic matches, but perhaps the best match that it ever introduced was the Ultimate X match.

The Ultimate X match, for those of you who don't know, is a special match type where a competitor must climb the ropes that are crossed in a "X" shape and attached to a few metal structures for stability. The title or object that is on the line is hung in the middle of the "X" cross, and the only way to win is by retrieving the hung object that is in the middle of the ropes' intersection.

If that doesn't sound innovative and interesting to you, then imagine three competitors who are vying for the X-Division gold being put in one of these Ultimate X matches.

The competitors I'm talking about are AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Christopher Daniels.

In this match, Samoa Joe was the champion, with "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels as his challengers.

Syles and Daniels were the faces who were also friends, while Joe was the dominating heel who still had his undefeated streak at the time.

Together, these three men made their second encounter in the ring an "Instant Classic."

Joe entered as the champion but at the end of the match, Daniels came out as the new X-Division champion after climbing the ropes to reach the hanging championship.

The Third Independent Encounter Overseas

AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe vs Christopher Daniels III at 1PW

Not many of you may know, kinda like their Ultimate X encounter, that Joe vs Daniels vs Styles also continued overseas.

Honestly, I didn't know about this match myself until I searched a few videos on Youtube and this was a related video.

In fact, I didn't know much about this that I'm not sure where this ranks in their encounters, was it before or after one of the first two that I have listed already? If someone knows, I would appreciate the feedback.

Anyways, like their other encounters, specifically their normal triple threat one, this turned out into a great match as well.

The only problem is that it was too short compared to the rest.

How short? Look at the video provided, as it's the full match.

Anyways, after an epic showdown, the series finally became tied as Samoa Joe took his first victory.

The Final Point of Encounter

AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe vs Christopher Daniels IV at Turning Point 2009

This match is my personal favorite.

Maybe it's because it's the most recent. Or maybe because it was for the most valuable prize in all of TNA: the TNA World Championship!

Either way, this match delivered plenty of high spots and some innovative moves as well.

AJ Styles came in as the TNA World Champion, and Daniels and Joe were his challengers.

It is what made TNA in the first place, and it shows as it has evolved from the X-division to the glory of TNA: the main division.

This match exemplified the evolution of not only a feud, but the company as well.

It was the most recent match and it had a phenomenal finish.

This match defined TNA and who better to win the match then the "Face of TNA" himself: AJ Styles.

Will the Feud Go Back to the Beginning?

5 of 5

Will We See Styles vs Joe vs Daniels V at Destination X 2011?

On the last episode of Impact Wrestling, there was a promo that hyped us up for the Destination X PPV. It had AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Daniels in it.

At first, it seemed that we were going to get the match that defined the X-Division and made TNA. We all thought that we were going to get to get Styles/Joe/Daniels V, but we were all swerved in the end with the announcement of Styles vs Daniels at Destination X.

The way the promo ended, it still gives me hope for Styles/Joe/Daniels V, but will it happen?

There is certainly still time to make it happen, and I certainly hope that it does.

AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe vs Christopher Daniels V, will it go back to the beginning?

Will it go back to its roots otherwise known as the X-Division?

All we can do is wait and see, but for now we can only go back and watch the feud that made TNA.
