Jets selected Mark Scheifele 7th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

With their first pick in their history back in Winnipeg, the newly named Jets selected big centreman Mark Schiefle.

Schiefle scored 75 points in 66 games last year with the Barrie Colts with 22 goals and 53 assists.

Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff said that Schiefle will be an exciting player for Winnipeg fans.  He believes they got a gem in the draft with the seventh pick.

True North Sports & Entertainment chairman Mark Chipman also announced the new team will be named the Jets.
