BROCKTON, Mass. - As a Brockton High senior captain in 2008, Henry Thevenin appeared on the jumbotron at Gillette Stadium to offer his teammates encouragement before the Boxers squared off with BC High in the Div. 1 Super Bowl.

Following his career donning Boxer black and red under Peter Colombo, Thevenin spent a year at Suffield Academy in Connecticut before landing at Stonehill College to pursue life as a student-athlete.

“No matter where he went – Brockton, Suffield, Stonehill – he was always a leader,” said Jamal Johnson, a member of the Skyhawks and a Boxers teammate before that. “Even as a freshman at Stonehill, he would speak in huddles and people would listen.”

That voice was silenced Tuesday morning when the 21-year-old Thevenin died at Tufts Medical Center following complications from a two-month battle with leukemia.
