Mock drafts that had Markieff Morris going before his identical-twin brother Marcus Morris were hard to come by.

After hearing for months that Marcus was the better overall package, and that Markieff was more physical but the less skilled of that duo, the Phoenix Suns apparently did not concur with that line of thinking.

Markieff was taken with the No. 13 pickof the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft, one slot before his brother, who went to the Houston Rockets.

Both were very good players while at Kansas, but Marcus was definitely the more polished on the offensive side of the court while with the Jayhawks. Marcus averaged 17.2points to Markieff's 13.6.

But Markieff, who is an inch taller, averaged almost one more rebound per game, and he was the superior defender, so maybe we should've seen this coming all along.

Here is what Phoenix Suns GM Lance Blanks had the following to say about Markieff, according to The Arizona Republic:

"This gives us an opportunity to lay our imprint on this organization and this team," Blanks said. "This is our first draft choice and first opportunity to do that. So very excited to have the opportunity for the pick but also a pick that reflects who we are and what we want to be about."
