2011 NBA Draft Results See Nets Grab Center Jordan Williams at No. 36
With the 36th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, the New Jersey Nets selected Maryland center Jordan Williams, hoping to add some bulk in the paint and a possible backup for Brook Lopez.
Williams has the chance to become a steal at No. 36 for the Nets. He's a physical presence in the paint, averaging 16.9 points, 11.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks for the Terrapins last season.
He has soft touch around the hoop and was a top rebounder in college, and projects to be a solid rebounder in the NBA.
He doesn't have much range on his jumper, he'll generally hang around the hoop, and he doesn't have explosive athleticism, which could see him not as effective in the NBA, but he's quickly erased the conditioning issues he had in the past. He's absolutely ripped now, which is hard to imagine given he was out of shape before.
A potential low-risk, high-reward player.
