With the opening of the European transfer window edging closer by the day, rumours and speculation are heating up around which players Kenny Dalglish and Liverpool FC have in their crosshairs.
What were mere rumours are beginning to become slightly more as Damien Comolli and the rest of his crew start dotting the I's and crossing the T's.
Liverpool have already splashed the cash with the huge deal for Jordan Henderson, and the feeling around the campfire is that the Reds may well end the transfer window activities as one of the biggest spenders, if not the biggest.
When it comes to spending power, Liverpool are most certainly back in the big leagues; now fans are just hoping that the players brought in will deliver the ultimate prize in the ultimate league.

The Reds are in talks with AS Roma chief Walter Sabatini over a possible move involving goalkeeper Julio Sergio, according to ESPNStar.com.
Although the Roma keeper would only move if he could secure first-team football, something not likely with Pepe Reina between the sticks at Anfield, there may still be a move on the cards.
Livepool are still in the hunt for some competition to Reina after failing to lure fellow Roma teammate Alexandre Doni last week, according to the ESPN Star report.

A photo that was later proved to be a hoax did the rounds on the Internet and quickly went viral. It showed Aston Villa winger and Liverpool target Stewart Downing holding a Liverpool scarf.
It was later proved to be a hoax, as the hand holding the scarf had too many fingers!
Hoax or no hoax, what is most certainly true is that Liverpool are preparing a £15 million offer to Villa for their England international winger.
Downing would be added to Dimitri Payet (if that deal goes through) as the new Liverpool wingers.

The Irish Independent is reporting that Liverpool are set to make a shocking move for John O'Shea.
The 30-year-old Manchester United utility player can play anywhere in the back four and even in various positions in midfield.
There are apparently several other clubs interested in O'Shea, as it is thought he wants a move away from Old Trafford.
If there is mileage in this rumour and it bears fruit, this would probably be the most surprising of Liverpool's deals this summer.
It appears that Nolan Roux has taken a step closer to becoming a Liverpool player, with news coming in that Liverpool are willing to match the release clause in the player's contract.
Roux is crossing the channel this week, and rumour has it that Liverpool is his port of call, with the Reds seriously considering a £6.5 million swoop.
They would be beating other chasers such as Marseille and Schalke from Germany for Roux signature

Paul Konchesky's Liverpool career has been given a further unexpected lifeline, with Wolves putting their interest in the failed left back on ice. It appears that they are looking to make acquisitions in other positions first.
Liverpool would like to see the back of Konchesky, who has been a disaster since being signed by former manager Roy Hodgson for £3.5 million. The Reds would be happy to recoup only a small portion of this fee as long as releasing the £40,000 a week wage currently being paid to Konchesky
For these reasons alone, Kenny Dalglish would like to Konchesky move on sooner rather than later.
A relatively new name to be linked with Liverpool, Nolan Roux has had a very productive season for French club Stade Brest, scoring 21 times in 53 games.
The French striker could well be a replacement for another Frenchman currently at Liverpool, David Ngog. Ngog has failed to impress and has had his best games in Europe, against premiership defenses he has suffered.
Roux most certainly has became a name around Liverpool in recent days, rumoured to be targeted in the range of £6.5 million.

Damien Comolli is known to be a long-time fan of French international winger Dimitri Payet and is looking to reach out to his old club to bring him to Anfield.
Payet notched 13 goals and three assists in 33 games last season for St-Etienne and ticks all the boxes when it comes to players that Liverpool want to bring into the club these days.
A potential stumbling block is that Liverpool are looking to offer around £6 million for Payet whereas his club have slapped on a price tag of £11 million. Comolli will have to pull all the strings he has at his former club, pull in a few favours and see if he can bring the asking price down to a more workable figure.
Manager Kenny Dalglish must invest in a wide player, as it has been evident for quite some time that the Reds are far from well supplied with quality wingers. It is well known that Dalglish would like more than one out and out wide player and Payet could well be the first of a few.

Connor Wickham, one of England's hottest young upcoming stars is desperate to make the switch to Anfield.
But Sunderland have made a £10 million offer for the starlet, with the Tractors holding out for £12 million. Wickham is also known to want to make a move to a bigger club and is eager to make that club Liverpool.
However, Liverpool and Sunderland are not the youngster's only suitors, as Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring events. But it is Sunderland who may be the keenest, and they also have the funds to back up the talk.
But Wickham himself prefers a move to Liverpool and is hoping that is where he ends up. Actually, so are Reds fans.
