Sweden Knocks off France 2-1 in Third-Place Match

Team USA women’s soccer team has made an improbable run to the FIFA Women’s World Cup finals and now is staring straight in the face of their biggest and final challenge: Japan.

The Japanese are a great team and they are going to come out firing on all cylinders.

I have a hard time believing that the American women are just going to fold though, and actually I think quite the opposite will happen.

The United States has been on fire during this world cup tournament, and they have come back from the brink of elimination to get where they are now.

They just need one more, but so does Japan.

Here are five bold predictions for the game:

Abby Wambach Will Score Twice:

Wambach is a beast, and I consider her to be the best player in the world. I expect her to have the biggest game of her career.

Japan Will Only Score Once:

The USA is just too hot right now, and Hope Solo is the best goalie in the game. I’ll give Japan a goal here, but I can’t give them much more.

Homare Sawa Will Score Japan’s Goal:

Sawa is a classic playmaker, and I think she will be able to break the United States stellar defense.

Hope Solo Will Be Tournament MVP:

Solo is the best goalie in the world right now, and she has made some incredible saves. Let’s not forget her stellar one handed save in shootouts against Brazil.
