2011 NBA Draft: Are the Houston Rockets Looking to Trade Up in the NBA Draft?
The Houston Rockets were a bubble team last season and are only a few pieces away from being a playoff team once again.
According to Yahoo! Sports, the Rockets are looking to make a deal with the Detroit Pistons to move up in Thursday night's draft.
Houston continues to offer the 14th and 23rd picks in the draft to move into the top 10, and could have a willing partner with the Detroit Pistons at No. 8. The Pistons have told teams they won’t trade down until they see who drops to them on draft night, sources said.
This would be an uncharacteristically aggressive move by Houston. It's unclear who they would be trying to trade up for, but if Detroit isn't willing to trade they may have another trade partner in Milwaukee.
The Rockets need bring a big man into the fold. They could be trying to grab Kawhi Leonard or even Spain's Bismack Biyombo. If they don't trade up they will likely hope that Jonas Valanciunas falls into their lap.
A Houston trade into the first round would certainly shake up the draft, but it will hinge on whether or not Kawhi Leonard falls to the Pistons or not.
