The 2011 NBA draft is this week, folks. That means it's time to get excited, but we can't get too ahead of ourselves. There is still much to be decided.
At this point, it's a good bet that Duke point guard Kyrie Irving and Arizona forward Derrick Williams are going to be the first two players off the board. But even when you take that into account, this year's draft still resembles the Wild West. There's no telling what will happen.
With the draft going down on Thursday, there is still some time for teams to sneak in a few last-second workouts with the players they're interested in. One way or another, these final sneak peeks will only help NBA general managers make up their minds.
Of course, the draft is not going to be a simple matter of taking the one player you want. There are a myriad of scenarios, many of which involve draft-night trades.
The word around the campfire is that there could be plenty of those.
With so much going on this week, the name of the game for this humble little set up is to round up all the latest news and notes concerning the NBA draft and to try to make sense of it all.
If that sounds like a good time, all you have to do is keep it here and wait for updates.
