Shanior, when did you start playing ball?

I started playing basketball when i was about 9 years old.

As a kid, did you play on any AAU teams, rec teams?

Yeah, played for a couple of teams like Riverside Hawks AAU team, and I played a lot street leagues and pal tournaments, whatever you can think of i played in it.

How was playing basketball in high school?

It was very interesting, I went through a lot of things where i could of said forget this basketball thing but I kept on going. My coach and I were going through something, which I had no idea what was going on, but ended with me being kicked off twice for undisclosed reasons. He did not have any reason to kick me off. But I still got recruited to play ball for a couple of schools in Upstate New York.

So did you make the team each year?

I made it my sophomore year, because my 9thgrade year I was playing AAU.

What are your strengths and weaknesses on the court?

I would say my strengths are I can break a defense down, and use my speed and quickness, and power to get to the basket; I am also a good passer and a decent mid range shooter. Weaknesses are that I’ve got to get quicker on defense and work on my IQ a little bit, because as a ballplayer the more you know about the game the more successful you will be.

What schools were looking at you?

Potsdam University, it’s a D3 and is where I attend. But as I said the coach had problem with me for a reason in which I didn’t know. He kicked me off which made me lose the D1 an D2 schools who were looking at me, which included Brown University, Holy Cross University, and CW post. I went to an exposure camp which gave me the opportunity to be seen by many schools like Clarkson University, Potsdam University, CW post, FIT, BMCC, Wheaton, Brown and Holy Cross.

So, what do you look to do for Potsdam Uni this season as a Freshman?

Learn everything I can from the senior point guards, and get advice from the other seniors on the team. Work hard, do what I am told, and comeback next season in the best shape ever. And even try to take us to the NCAA tournament.

Any specific number you wear? Why?

I like the number 25, but will play in any number.

What advice can you give too anyone trying too follow in your footsteps and play College, High School, Pro Ball?

Work hard, its hard work. And believe in yourself, don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t do something.

Any intentions on going too the pros?

I would love to play in the pros, and I am working towards that goal. But first, I want to graduate college and play college ball. Then if everything goes as planned, I will be playing in the pros.
