Not going to lie, I have been enjoying this little hiatus from the NFL due to the lockout. Been able to knock out a lot of the honey-do list, play a good bit of ultimate frisbee and get dirty in the garden more this spring/summer than in previous years.
But do not let me fool you, I cannot wait for football to return.
With the NBA Finals over and Major League Baseball approaching midseason, the dog days of summer are upon sports fans. The good news, for those of you who care not for baseball, is that the NFL lockout may be over in time for training camp.
If you are preparing for a football season without the NFL, perhaps you are considering the college fantasy football game. The idea has been thrown around our office as a plan B. Hopefully, though, the NFL gets back to business in time for fantasy owners to have a typical summer schedule of mock drafts, live drafts, picking clever team names and dusting off the smack talk.
With that said, our summer break is almost over. Fantasy owners begin researching for the upcoming season in earnest during the months of July and August, so our posting schedule is about to ramp up for another year of fake football. Looking forward to it.
We will be bringing back the ever-popular best fantasy football team name contest starting in July. Get your best team names ready for that. Rankings, mock drafts, injury updates and other discussions are just some of the things you also will start seeing around here again soon.
For now, enjoy a few football reads:
- A fun list: The top-25 fantasy football quarterbacks of the last 15 years. Brett Favre may top the list due to longevity, but I will never forget owning Tom Brady during his 50-touchdown season. [Pancake Blocks]
- Get an early look at some sleepers and bust candidates to stay ahead of other fantasy owners this summer. [Fantasy Football Xtreme]
- Never too early for some mock draft talk. So who would you take first overall, Arian Foster or Adrian Peterson? I liked Foster last year, but Peterson has the skins on the wall. Or would you take someone else at No. 1? [Roto Arcade]
