NBA Rumors: Is Vince Carter’s NBA Career Finished?
Vince Carter will forever be remembered for his epic performance in the 2000 Slam Dunk contest.
That performance will also be all he is remembered for. He will never win an NBA Championship and will just be another list of athletic, highlight reel shooting guards who can never help his team get over the Championship hump.
Injuries derailed his career, though he was never on the Championship track as he was never a clutch performer and could not carry a team through the postseason.
This is why Vince should capitalize on his marketability right now and accept the offer to play overseas. “Besiktas interested in Vince Carter,” according to Sportando Basket on Twitter.
He will never be offered a lengthy or hefty contract again in the NBA. His ‘talents’ have waned and he is nothing more than a brand name than anything else. He is expected to be bought out by the Phoenix Suns, which will allow him to head to a contender if that organization allowed him to be part of the process.
After seeing his career trail off in Orlando and Phoenix, it is difficult to find any team on the verge of winning bringing him in. He may garner interest from a few scrub teams looking to make a splash with a name brand, but he will not help them win and not even they would dare offer him solid money.
Would Carter even be willing to play for a short-term contract with little money? The worst part is that he still thinks he’s a superstar. He is going to hog shot opportunities and try to take over the game despite his repeated failures, which is why a Championship contender would be foolish to sign him.
Last year, in 51 games with Phoenix, he only averaged 13.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists. He barely has anything left in the tank, but would be a superstar overseas instead of an aging bum here in the States. Carter’s NBA career is just about finished, but he could flourish overseas.
