2011 NBA Mock Draft: Boston Celtics Need Versatile Bench

I don't think the Boston Celtics chances of winning a title have passed them by.

When I watched the Miami Heat series and even in the New York Knicks series, I noticed the starters were still playing at a high level, building leads and showing no signs of old age. It was when the bench came in that leads disappeared and forced the starters back onto the floor.

Am I crazy to think Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett have another run in them? Maybe, but I think with the right bench it remains a possibility.

Safe Pick: Malcolm Lee. Celtics need guys that can play two positions. Jeff Green is important because he can sub in for Paul Pierce or Kevin Garnett and has no problem playing a large number of minutes. Lee would be able to sub in for Rajon Rondo or Ray Allen giving the Celtics another two-for-one special.

High Risk/High Reward: Davis Bertans. The Latvian big man plays small forward and power forward.

Intriguing Option: Josh Selby. Selby could be the heir to the starting shooting guard once Ray Allen retires.
